Frequently Asked Questions

Blue Bell Tents boutique camping are traditional canvas 5m bell tents, originating from 19th century military camps and reimagined today as versatile tent hotel rooms. The entrance doorway is over 5ft, and the tallest part of the tent is almost 7ft high.
There is no electricity supplied to the tents themselves, and all lighting is either battery or solar powered. When we are operating a reception tent (at most festivals we attend) there will be facilities to charge your phone and hairdryers supplied with mirrors.
The tents are all 5m in diameter and come fully furnished with the queen size double or single Blue Bell wooden camp bed with a real mattress, 200 thread count pure cotton bed linen, winter tog duvets and fluffy pillows, sea-grass custom made flooring, brass vanity mirror, atmospheric lighting and lockable doors.
You are welcome to bring whatever it is that will make your stay even more comfortable. This might be some deckchairs and a camp table, a picnic rug or cooking stove (please check with the festival you are attending on the specific rules). You will also need to bring a towel and toiletries and soap, AND don't forget your wellingtons or boots!

Blue Bell Tents come with bedding and bed linen. We have blankets available to buy and take home with you if you feel the nights are chillier than normal, otherwise you are welcome to bring your own.
When we are at music festivals, the festival themselves organizes the facilities. These will include luxury event loos and showers. At the Hay Festival we organize the facilities ourselves, and guests will have choice over ample high quality loos and hot showers. If you are getting married or having a party we can help you find a shower and loo hirer in your area.
For most events, and at all festivals, we operate a reception service so we can show you to your tent and be on call for assistance throughout your stay. All you need to do is look out for our sign at festivals to come and find the reception area to check in.

Sometimes, at smaller parties and weddings we will simply supply you with a tent number in an advance email so you can find your tent when you arrive.

You don't have to do anything to "check out" except to shut and lock your tent door.
We have carefully designed the interiors of our tents; hand made the beds and sourced the furnishings from all over. We see this as camping with a difference; a touch of camping luxury and style, meaning guests can show up with little more than clean shirt, a towel and a toothbrush. Since you are under canvas, this does still qualify as camping. If you are a first time camper and would like to discuss your needs with someone, drop us a line.
Blue Bell Tents is defined by its transience and mobility. We move from place to place through out the summer erecting encampments. This means we come across the habitats of various creatures that lived there before we arrived. Our tents are sealed around the bottom, which means little insects are mostly kept out, but we cannot guarantee nothing will find its way in. We promote co-existence with our non-human friends, all of which are completely harmless. If you are highly sensitive to Britain's smaller species then come prepared with some insect repellent and an adventurous attitude!
Payment for booking is required in advance, and we do not take any additional payment as a security deposit.
Please check our Terms and Conditions for our cancellation policy.
We don't have a formal system for payment plans, however we are willing to adapt to needs on an individual basis, please get in touch to discuss this with someone in our office.
Blue Bell Tents is an event accommodation service that means we cannot accept cash or card payments on the site where the tents are.
If you are getting married or having a party and would like to provide bell tent accommodation for your guests please note we have a minimum hire of 20 tents, and we can accommodate up to 200 guests in 75 large tents. We will put up a free bell tent for every 25 that are booked.

If you are attending a festival or a wedding as a guest then you are welcome to book as many as you wish, and we will always do our best to put you next to your friends if you tell us in advance.
